Car Museum

I was so glad that we were able to go to this museum.  It was worth every penny.  Almost every car I have ever wanted to see in person was here at the museum.  We missed the extravagant foreign cars that were on show the week before but I feel like I enjoyed this just as much.
Paul was in heaven!  He stopped to explain a few things to Audrey a couple of times and I think it may have gone over her head because she flopped over in his arms.  I'm pretty sure she was saying...without saying it that she was content to look...and she was content.  She wanted to show me every cool thing she saw.  She does have a little bit of her Daddy in her.  She stopped to read a few information signs even though they were over her head.
I took pictures of all of my favorites.  I noticed a lot of them are red.  I guess I'm just drawn to a red car.  I thought it was so interesting that the early cars looked like mini rooms on the inside.  The lights looked like they belonged in a mobile home instead of a car.  There were also quite a few years there where hood ornaments were a big deal.  I feel like I should have been born in the 60's, the cars were much better looking then. :)
There was an entire wing of the museum dedicated to motorcycles and one man owned every last one of them.  I'm not sure what he does with them but I was pretty impressed with his collection.  Paul felt like he was reliving his childhood.  There were so many there that his parents had owned or still own.  It was a fun walk down memory lane.
As we neared the end there was a little pinewood derby course.  I loaded up my car only to lose.  I went about examining my car and found that axle was bent so I looked through the remaining cars to find the best one, checking each wheel.  I was determined to beat the engineer.  I loaded up my new car with weighted blocks and won over and over again.  I was so satisfied with my victory.  :)
At first look this museum was small but at one point Paul and I looked at each other and said, "Is there an end to this?".  I'm not sure exactly how big it was but it felt like 6 floors of cars.  By that time Audrey was shoe less and we were glancing more than reading.  It was late and we still had a trip back to the hotel.  On the way home we stopped for a doughnut at crispy creme.  I was a little disappointed.  They weren't fresh and weren't good.  I'm not sure I'll ever go again.
We also ran into another random book store, this one was huge.  Books were stacked floor to ceiling, there were stacks of them on the floor and on desks.  It was organized chaos.  Initially I couldn't even find the lady to buy the books I wanted.  She was sitting behind a desk that was covered in stacks of books.  They were taller than she was sitting down so I had to walk by a few times to find her. It seemed as though the place was empty with her hiding behind her stacks of books.  It was a wonderland for me.  I walked down the isles touching every spine.  We took home at least six books and wanted many more.  While we were checking out Paul asked the owner how many books she had.  She said that there were probably 200,000 books in the store and then she had a warehouse full across the street that had at least that many more.  She might have a minor addiction.  :)
